I’ve lived in New York City for a long while now. I am just discovering a lot about it by simply walking around Manhattan. This article is about when the grid of Manhattan started to appear. It’s amazing how easy it is to find places there. Below is a plan from 1754:

 

Absolutely incredible huh? A place that is linked to words like “future” “financial capital of the world” “hectic” “busy” “new” “happening” had plans from that long ago. Makes me think people were hip back then more so than now. We’re too busy with candy crush to create such masterpieces.
